Donna Rogers-Harris, known as Sojourner and also Sojo “The Ladies Champ” is a native of St. Petersburg, FL. Sojourner found entertaining to be her passion from an early age starting in first grade as she began to win various local talent shows. While attending Pinellas Park High School, where she graduated from, she really honed her performance skills. Sojourner was part of both the theater and music ensembles during that time which led to her developing confidence on stage. All of that early training has molded her into a phenomenal rapper, singer, songwriter, radio personality, and event host.
With hip hop legends such as MC Lyte and Salt-N-Pepa as influences Sojourner started performing professionally as a teen in the late 90’s as “Duchess Of Deafness”. She was signed to BoundSound Records, a Miami based record label. Her mentor at the time, the late Mr. L.C. Sneed, was also an executive for Warner Brother Records. Sojourner’s first single “Wind It Up” was featured on one of fellow St. Petersburg native Will Packer’s earliest films titled “Chocolate City”.
In 2002 Sojourner emerged with 2 hit songs “Watch Me” and “Thick Girl”. “Thick Girl” caught the attention of T-Pain and led to Sojourner being the official opener for his debut tour. During that time Sojourner continued to create her own distinct sound which makes her one of the premier artists in Tampa Bay. Sojourner’s music is inspirational to all women no matter the shape, size or color. Earning her the title of “The Ladies Champ”.
Sojourner is a multi-genre artist with a catalog the includes Rock, R&B, Gospel Hip-Hop, Soul and Inspirational. “Thick Girl” continues to be a major hit for Sojourner amassing over 3 million views on YouTube. It was also one the top trending viral challenges on Tik Tok as the "Cute in The Face Thick In The Waist" challenge and the "Watch Me Ride" challenge. Sojo's infectious debut Southern Soul single “Stir It Like Coffee”, entered at number 12 on Daddy B. Nice’s Top 50 Southern Soul and Blues Chart. She followed that with another smash "Magic Cat" and her ballad "Toes Curl" with Methrone Da BabyMaka which helped her earn multiple Best New Southern Soul Artist Nominations. Sojourner's newest song "GirlFriend" continues to add to that list showing why she is the “Queen of Jook City Soul”.
